Update on the Welby Practice, Waltham
The Parish Council raised further concerns with the Welby Practice recently about the level of service being received by their patients.
After a Practice meeting held in August 2024, the Group Executive Manager, Jodie Knight, sent this response addressing the concerns the Parish Council had forwarded:
Thank you for your email regarding the concerns raised by residents about the ongoing situation at Welby Practice in Waltham. We understand the difficulties parishioners have been facing, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.
We are pleased to inform you that we now have provisions for a weekly GP sessions at the Waltham site until the end of September with the exception of one week due to the GP being on annual leave. We are currently in further discussions to ensure the continuation of services beyond that period, and we remain committed to improving the situation.
In addition to these efforts, we would like to highlight that we already have several services in place at the Waltham practice:
A Nurse Practitioner who attends weekly for minor illness consultations.
A Practice Nurse providing weekly care.
A Health Support Worker on a weekly basis.
A Physiotherapist available weekly.
Dispensing services four days a week.
We also have plans to enhance the site with new flooring for the clinician rooms and improvements to the staff kitchen area. These developments underscore our commitment to the long-term future of the Waltham practice, and we hope they will help improve the experience for both patients and staff.
We are actively working to address the staffing issues that have impacted service levels, and we will continue to keep you updated as progress is made.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work towards a more sustainable solution.
